This award provides you with the qualification necessary to work as a Surf Instructor. This is the entry level award and enables you to teach surfing from the beginner through to the development level of surfing.

This is a 3 day course, each day there is an indoor session and a beach session. The indoor sessions contain presentations and workshops and the beach session creates practical, training in a realistic environment. Candidates are assessed throughout the course with a final assesment on the third day. The assessment has a teaching element and a surfing element. In the teaching assessment candidates must demonstrate their ability to teach a basic lesson. The surfing assessment has two parts, 1) the personal surfing ability of each candidate is evaluated and 2) each candidated ability to demonstrate beginner surfing skills for teaching purposes.

Our combined lifeguard and surf instructor courses are very popular and we are the only watersports training company in the UK offering a combined course that can be completed over a 9 day period. In order to work as a surf instructor candidates must hold a lifesaving qualification (either the NARS BL or NARS SLSC) as well as a Level 1 Surf Instructor qualification. The level 1 Surf Instructor award runs from a Fri - Sun followed by the lifesaving award from the Mon - Sat. To book a course choose a Level 1 Surf Instructor date then choose a Lifesaving Course that starts immediately following. Please note courses may be taken at different times if this is not suitable.
